Being a delicate
and thin-skinned grape variety, Pinot Noir requires hard work and
meticulousness. Today, it can be found in many wine regions all around the
world but it is, without a doubt, in Burgundy that it finds its best and most
diverse expressions. From Côte de Beaune, through Côte de Nuits, down to Côte
Chalonnaise, Pinot Noir is sometimes light, sometimes powerful, often with red
and black fruit aromas, sometimes floral also, with notes of roasted coffee,
tobacco, mushroom, damp undergrowth when you are patient enough to forget about
it for a while in your cellar, and always subtle. it is also the key grape
variety of the great reds of Oregon, USA, where Maison Joseph Drouhin has owned
some vineyards for over 30 years.
